The monthly newspaper “Chokhi Kheti” is being e-published regularly since February 2002 covering all research based articles useful for the farming community of the state. Now this is also available on line on the University website www.raubikaner.org. The subscription rate of the paper is only Rs. 50/ per annum.
This project has been sanctioned in 1999 under the National Agricultural Technology Project. ATIC is functioning on ‘single window delivery system’ for meeting the requirements of the farmers in terms of new technology, seeds/planting material of improved varieties, vaccines,
diagnostic facility, literature, which was quite innovative and would help in bringing the institutions/SAUs closer to the farmers.
To identify suitable solutions of the location specific problems being faced by the farmers in the adopted villages,on farm testing programme was taken up by KVKs on problems like low yield, plant protection, nutrient management and varietal assessment in crops like clusterbean, mothbean, greengram, groundnut, wheat, mustard, gram and vegetables like Carrot and onion.OFTs were also taken on fruit plant like kinnow, Pomegranate and Date-palm. In animals husbandry section buffalo and calf were taken into consideration. This year total 25On Farm Testing were taken by SKRAU,KVKs with the involvement of 75 farmers mainly for assessment of technologies.
The ICAR has sponsored a special programme of Front-line Demonstrations to demonstrate the genetic production potential of improved crop varieties and to disseminate latest proven technologies of oilseeds under NAMOOP scheme and pulses production among the farmers with the view to reduce the time lag between technology generated and its adoption under NFSM scheme. This will also enable field functionaries to elucidate the production constraints and limitations in the adoption of technology for onward transmission to scientists to reorient their research accordingly. In these demonstrations all the newly unfolded technologies are carried out under the direct supervision of scientists and technicians of KVKs by supplying the critical inputs.
During the reporting year, Demonstrations were conducted on 432 hectares of land under front linedemonstrationsincludingoilseeds,(152ha),pulses(280ha)andothercrops(100ha).Total 1725 demonstrationswerelaidoutunderFLD.
